St. Peter-Ording, also affectionately known as SPO, is located on the western tip of the Eiderstedt peninsula in Schleswig-Holstein. We introduce you to the four districts of St. Peter-Ording: Bad, Böhl, Ording and Dorf.
BAD
As a lively junior in the historic district ensemble, St. Peter-Bad stands for the “new” and young St. Peter-Ording. Here you will find the historic but lavishly renovated pier, the new adventure promenade and the first-class health and wellness center “Dünen-Therme” with leisure and adventure pool and large sauna area.
In the district “Bad” you can go shopping and eat wonderfully. Here, too, nature is omnipresent: the adjacent pine forest, the dunes and the endlessly long beach invite you to take long walks.
ORDING
Ording, the northernmost district of St. Peter-Ording, is the mecca of water sports enthusiasts: surfers, beach and catamaran sailors, kite buggy riders and many more appreciate the endlessly wide beach, where there is room for every single outdoor fan. By the way, the legendary TV series “Against the Wind” was also filmed here. North of this section of the beach is the extensive nudist beach.
BÖHL
When you drive over the Eider Dam to St. Peter-Ording, you first encounter the district of Böhl, where you are greeted by the rugged and cozy charm of North German thatched-roof houses. Here it is nature-bound and cozy: golf course and camping site are nearby, and beyond the dike the unique salt marshes extend. The flat beach invites to extended horseback riding and in the direct neighborhood (direction Wittendün) the “Westküstenpark” attracts with many domestic and wild animals. In addition, in Böhl you can find the excellent restaurant “Seekiste” on a pile construction on the beach.
VILLAGE
Situated at a central point in the network of local districts, the name “village” is almost an understatement. Small-town charm permeates the harmonious coexistence of historic architecture and modern bustle. There you will find the 13th-century church to which St. Peter-Ording owes its name, the former stagecoach station with the oldest restaurant in the village, and the old Frisian house, now the “Eiderstedter Heimatmuseum”. Salt marshes and the beach provide space for wonderful walks.
