“When I first encountered yoga in 1998, I was not at all convinced that it could really be a sport for men.” When you read this quote, you don’t believe that Ralf Bauer could ever have said this. Ralf Bauer is one of the most popular German television stars of the present day. The actor became known in the mid-1990s as one of the main actors in the ARD series “Gegen den Wind”. The film was shot in St. Peter-Ording.

What started as a simple sun salutation is now its own brand! Ralf Bauer has now been practicing yoga for many years and is involved with Far Eastern philosophies. He has already published several yoga DVDs (including “Yoga mit Ralf Bauer”, “Yoga mit Ralf Bauer 2” and “Mein Sonnengruß”) as well as a book entitled “Unterwegs zu mir – eine Reise auf der Spur der Philosophie des tibetischen Yoga”. Some things are remembered forever: That’s probably how actor Ralf Bauer feels.

Even though the 55-year-old has not been active on the beach of St. Peter-Ording for a long time now, people still somehow know Bauer as the surfer Nik Andersen from the ARD early evening series “Gegen den Wind”. Ralf Bauer, born in Karlsruhe in 1966, never really let go of the role: in 2021, he returned to the North Sea with a new story and philosophy in the film “The Return – Sem Dhul”. He was also involved in the film as a screenwriter and producer. In part, Ralf Bauer chose the same filming location as back then: St. Peter-Ording. The story about a freedom fighter who once fled from Germany to an Indian monastery to escape a personal dilemma reflects the surfing lifestyle of St. Peter-Ording and the philosophy of Tibet. In his latest film, Bauer, as escapee Ralf, fights against the Chinese regime and for the freedom of the Tibetans, to whose community he has found unique access. A film about the vastness of perspective and the tragedy of material attachment: humorous, dramatic and deeply moving.

Meanwhile, Bauer is also hosting more and more YOGA RETREATS. The word yoga means “unity” or “union” – of body, mind and spirit. Retreat means something like “retreat” in English. Here is meant the withdrawal from everyday events. A retreat is a spiritual rest, a withdrawal from the usual environment to get closer in touch with oneself. Where better to do this than in St. Peter-Ording and even better with us at the ambassador hotel & spa. Relax from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, not only during the yoga retreat, but also in our wellness area or during a walk on the North Sea beach.

We offer beautiful rooms with sea view, land view on request, in our main house or in our new beach wing. Arrive relaxed on Friday from 15.00 and get to know Ralph Bauer and the other participants at 17.00 at the first welcome session and then have dinner together at our restaurant Sandperle. On Saturday they will be able to participate in 2 sessions (morning + afternoon). All meals are taken together. Sunday morning there will be one more session and at 12:00 we will enjoy the last lunch together. Check out relaxed at 14.00 and go home well rested.
